The Diversity, Equity, and Neuro-inclusivity (DEN) Research Hub is dedicated to advancing our understanding of how organizations, marketplaces, and institutions can foster truly inclusive environments. While management and marketing research have traditionally relied on standardized models of productivity and consumption, there is a pressing need to examine the systemic barriers that marginalize underrepresented, vulnerable, and/or neurodivergent populations. Our researchers draw upon diverse theoretical lenses—including inclusive organizational behaviour, intersectionality, institutional inequality, and transformative consumer research—to challenge conventional paradigms. The DEN Hub serves as a collaborative platform for scholars to develop cross-disciplinary insights, driving evidence-based solutions that dismantle social hierarchies, promote equity, and champion neuro-inclusivity across business and society.
The Hub Coordinator, Dr. Gamze Koseoglu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is the Program Director for the Master of Management (General), Master of Management (Human Resources), and Master of Management (Marketing) programs. Her research is primarily focused on understanding the contextual factors that influence employee creativity at work. She particularly researches the creativity of employees with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Research activity
The Diversity, Equity & Neuro-inclusivity (DEN) Research Hub will explore the following topics:
-
Within the diversity domain, Prof. Daiane Scaraboto and visiting PhD scholar Yuri Dallabrida investigate gender representation in videogames. Expanding on the dynamics of systemic power, Dr. Kanika Meshram explores how institutionalized forms of social hierarchy affect contemporary consumption markets. Her work on the eco-feminist dynamics of garment workers highlights the gender diversity linked with worker marginalisation. Furthermore, Dr. Victoria Roberts researches the structural and social determinants of abuse within organizations. Her work centres on addressing coercive control and preventing abuse in contexts such as sports organizations, laying the groundwork for safer and more diverse workplace cultures.
-
Our equity research addresses systemic marginalization and structural fairness across multiple contexts. Prof. Hari Bapuji examines economic inequality and value distribution through the lens of caste , while his collaborative work with Dr. Kanika Meshram seeks to uncover the systematic financial exclusion of Dalit customers. Dr. Meshram further explores the creation of "negative being," analyzing the intersections of religion, humiliation, and consumer vulnerability. Investigating marketplace inclusion, Prof. Daiane Scaraboto conducts qualitative research on how marginalized groups respond to egalitarian practices, while Prof. Michal Carrington conducts critical research on consumer perspectives of modern slavery. Additionally, Dr. Danielle Chmielewski-Raimondo and Prof. Michal Carrington collaborate on understanding the role of marketing and consumption in women's divergent experiences of aging, and Prof. Michelle Brown investigates pay transparency as a crucial mechanism for ensuring equitable employee and organizational outcomes.
-
Dedicated to neuro-inclusivity, A/Prof. Gamze Koseoglu leads comprehensive research on the integration and success of neurodivergent professionals. Her work encompasses quantitative studies on the career trajectories of employees with ADHD. She also conducts qualitative research comparing the creative processes of autistic and non-autistic employees, alongside exploring the vital relational dynamics between neurodiverse and neurotypical colleagues. In addition, in a collaboration with Prof. Michelle Brown, she investigates the work experiences of neurodiverse employees. Prof. Hari Bapuji's work on invisible inequalities provides theoretical tools to study neuro-inclusivity.
