  • Tutor Professional Development

The FBE Tutor Development Program supports and develops new tutors by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to be effective educators. The program is designed for tutors new to the faculty and aims to:

  • Help develop knowledge of effective teaching and learning in higher education contexts;
  • Provide individualised feedback on their teaching to support their development as a tutor;
  • Equip tutors with practical skills on how to enhance student learning within and outside of the classroom; and
  • Provide a forum for new tutors to share their experiences and gain insights from experienced educators.

The program consists of the following components:

  • Three 2-hour interactive seminars:
      1. Foundations of Tutoring in FBE: Thursday 23 July 9:30–11:30 (O-Week)* or Tuesday 28 July 12:00–14:00 (Week 1)
      1. Strategies for Active Learning: Thursday 23 July 12:00–14:00 (O-Week)* or Tuesday 4 August 12:00–14:00 (Week 2)
      1. Effective Feedback Practices: Thursday 23 July 14:30–16:30 (O-Week)* or Tuesday 11 August 12:00–14:00 (Week 3)
* These sessions form an intensive stream of the program, and are only available for those that can attend all three on 23 July.
