Peer Mentoring Program

A program pairing new educators with experienced mentors to enhance teaching skills through guidance, feedback, and collaboration.

The peer mentor program involves new tutors (mentees) being assigned an experienced tutor mentor.
Mentors observe their mentee’s tutorials twice during semester, and provide individualised feedback
following the program outline below. Tutorial observations take place within tutor mentee’s scheduled
tutorial times.

Introduction and planning meeting: Week 2 or 3, 2 hours
Tutorial Observation 1: Week 3 or 4, No additional hours
Feedback and planning meeting: Week 3 or 4, 2 hours
Tutorial Observation 2: Week 6 or 7, No additional hours

Tutors engaged as casual employees are paid at the ‘Other Casual Academic Activity’ rate for all training
and professional development they are directed to undertake. It is important that casual tutors and their
supervisors agree on the seminar times and mentor program participation before tutors attend.
