Peer evaluation of teaching such as in-class observations is increasingly seen as an important tool for improving learning and teaching quality.
Universities across the world have long used peer observation and assessment as an alternate mechanism to evaluate teacher effectiveness. Peer evaluation of teaching such as in-class observations is increasingly seen as an important tool for improving learning and teaching quality. There have been many reported advantages of their effectiveness.
The faculty has implemented a peer review of teaching framework since 2018 to provide opportunities for teaching staff to demonstrate teaching excellence using the expertise of other academics, and not students. Peer evaluation has been regarded as an important tool for improving learning and teaching quality, developing confidence to teach and learn more about teaching, improving academic engagement and developing a collegial approach to providing ideas to improve teaching practice.
