The research network will provide a forum for the development and dissemination of teaching and learning research, encouraging, and supporting collaboration and sharing across the departments in FBE.

Agenda: Getting started with SoTL Research

1. Formulating a research question - Dr Evonne Irwin (Educational Designer, Williams Centre for Learning Advancement)

   There is no one perfect way to begin your scholarship in teaching and learning career. In this seminar, we discuss the opportunities and constraints which can shape how you might get started. We’ll explore the development of a research question and discuss methods that can help you answer that question. We’ll consider practical issues and make suggestions for how your scholarship can have the greatest impact for you, your department colleagues and the faculty.

2. Getting started with a sample research question- Kristijan Causovski (Faculty Librarian (Business and Economics, Education

• Creating optimal search strategies
• Evaluating search results
• Further help – how to make individual/group appointments with the FBE research library
