  • Open Class Week

Open Class Week is a new initiative from the WCLA that offers academics the opportunity to open their classrooms in Weeks 6 & 7 of the semester to colleagues to visit and observe. This initiative hinges on best open classroom practices offered elsewhere such as at Brown, Northwestern, Yale and Rice universities. Opening classrooms promotes awareness of the different teaching approaches across FBE. By making teaching in FBE more visible, it inspires other academics to learn from others and, in turn, innovate their own teaching practice. Open Classrooms Week aims to:

  • Promote a culture of sharing and awareness of different teaching and learning approaches in the faculty;
  • Foster open conversations about teaching and learn from others through non-judgmental teaching observation;
  • Strengthen a community of academics sharing teaching practices, making teaching more public and open to pedagogical discussions;
  • Encourage reflection to promote continuous improvement of teaching and student learning experience.
