The WorkHub program at the University of Melbourne provided me with transformative opportunities to develop professionally and personally, ultimately helping me secure a graduate role at BMW. Here’s how this journey unfolded.

When I joined the WorkHub program in my final semester of study, I was eager to work on real-world challenges and gain industry exposure. The program allowed me to collaborate with BMW Group Australia, which was both exciting and daunting. The project focused on exploring solutions to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) ownership experience. It pushed me to apply my research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and working in a student team further honed my ability to collaborate effectively.
One standout aspect of the program was the opportunity to immerse myself in BMW’s operations and culture. As part of the experience, I attended the BEVx conference. The conference was a fascinating dive into the company’s strategy for electromobility. It was inspiring to witness the alignment between BMW’s vision for the future of mobility and the work we were doing as part of WorkHub.
I had the opportunity to visit BMW dealerships and their Australian headquarters, which allowed me to engage directly with industry professionals and learn more about the company’s operations. These experiences gave me a well-rounded understanding of BMW’s approach to innovation and customer care, and I made sure to seize every opportunity to connect, ask questions, and learn.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the program was the mentorship we received from BMW professionals. Their insights into the automotive industry and constructive feedback during our project helped refine my technical skills and professional mindset.
The experience also presented challenges, such as understanding the complexities of the EV market and managing tight deadlines. However, overcoming these challenges gave me a sense of accomplishment and taught me to stay adaptable in dynamic environments—a skill I will carry forward in my career.

The combination of hands-on project work, industry exposure, and professional networking significantly boosted my confidence and employability. Following this experience, I applied for BMW’s Parts Logistics Graduate Program, leveraging my newly acquired skills and insights. During the interview process, I highlighted my proactive approach and enthusiasm for the company’s vision and was thrilled to learn that I had secured the position.
Reflecting on my journey, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities WorkHub provided. The program not only enhanced my technical and interpersonal skills but also gave me the confidence to pursue my career aspirations. My advice to future WorkHub participants is to be proactive, embrace every opportunity, and remain curious -you never know where it might lead.
Thank you to the Faculty of Business and Economics and BMW Group Australia for creating such a valuable program. I’m excited to begin this next chapter with BMW and to continue growing in this dynamic and innovative industry.
