On April 18, the Institute for the Future of Business and AIA Australia hosted the event on the Parkville campus with introduction speeches from Professor Phil Dolan, Executive Director of the Institute, and Marianne Hutchinson, Chief of Strategy, Innovation and Data Office, AIA.

“As an executive and Advisory Board member of the IFB, I am delighted to see this vibrant mix of talent from academia and industry come together,” said Ms Hutchinson.

“AIA is proud to be a founding member of the IFB, and we are excited to be here at the University for our second annual networking event.”

The Institute for the Future of Business is a collaboration between the Faculty of Business and Economics and Melbourne Business School, with AIA Australia as its founding corporate member.

The University and the School partnered with the leading insurance provider to launch a new model for engaging Australian organisations in the design and delivery of business education, as well as applied research projects that will aim to solve challenges for the future of business.

“The Institute for the Future of Business is very pleased to be working with AIA to facilitate their access to the wider University,” said Professor Dolan.

“Successful projects that have been undertaken to date include using advanced eye-tracking technology to assist in determining the key factors that underlie decisions when taking out life insurance, and addressing some of the issues that lead women to take early retirement and experience financial hardship in later life, due to poor health outcomes.

“Both projects have produced significant results of interest both to AIA and the wider community.”

The showcase presented an opportunity for senior AIA staff to hear about some of the University’s other areas of excellence, and to discuss potential projects with the academic staff undertaking the work.
