I am Emma Power, a lecturer with a passion for teaching and a strong interest in the human side of business. I strive to create an inclusive and engaging experience for my students so that they feel safe and supported to get the best out of themselves.

I teach subjects about entrepreneurial organisations, human resources and leadership. I focus on bridging the gap between theory and practice by drawing on my own experience working in corporate and startup organisations, as well as bringing in industry guests to share their unique stories.

My research focuses on teaching innovation and managing entrepreneurial businesses.

Current Subjects

MGMT90227 – Entrepreneurial Organisation

This subject focuses on building an entrepreneurial organisation and the challenges that leaders overcome in each phase of the enterprise: startup, scale up and maturity. We will evaluate decisions about organisation design, people, culture, process, funding and operational management and consider how we align these aspects with the goals of unique entrepreneurial ventures.

MGMT90265 – Managing Teams

This is a fully-online subject in the Master of Professional Management. Students will learn and apply knowledge, skills and tools for leading teams in digital, dynamic and diverse environments. The subject focuses in improving individual and collective performance.

MGMT90016 – Performance and Reward Management

In this subject we identify the tools and techniques used by organisations to assess employee performance. We then investigate how these performance assessments are used to allocate employee financial rewards to individuals and groups; focusing on the fairness and effectiveness of these systems for various stakeholders.
