Profile

I am Dr. Teagan Altschwager, Lecturer and Co-area Head of Marketing at The University of Melbourne. Despite a career of various research-only roles, I have always loved teaching – so I am excited to now be in an education-focused role.

I have a particular interest in blended learning, as I believe it empowers students to take charge of their learning at a time, place, and pace that suits them. Regardless of delivery, my teaching style centres around creating an engaging and fun atmosphere where students feel confident to share their opinions – I incorporate in-class tech as one method of amplifying quieter voices.

Outside of teaching, I am also Co-area Head of Marketing. Within this role, I am involved in the creation of the new IDEAS LABS (learning advancement breakthrough sub-committees). I am the coordinator of the Innovation sub-committee, focusing on (1) how various innovations (tech, AI) are incorporated into the classroom, and (2) how can we as a department nurture innovation in teaching.
