Dr George Panas
Profile
After more than 25 years in senior management roles across industry and consulting, I transitioned to academia with the completion of my PhD in 2022. I currently serve as an Enterprise Fellow and Director of Engagement in the Department of Management and Marketing.
My professional background spans strategy, finance, and global supply chain operations. My academic and industry interests converge around supply chain strategy, sustainability, and digital commerce. A significant area of my research explores the role of supply chains in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular emphasis on food and packaging waste, modern slavery, and supplier diversity.
In my role as Director of Engagement, I aim to actively foster collaboration between academia and industry to ensure our research and teaching remain impactful and relevant.

Current Subjects
MGMT90026 – Supply Chain Management
This subject is aimed at developing an advanced understanding of the principles, concepts and approaches employed in the management of supply chains between industrial, commercial, and governmental organisations.
In this subject, my goal is to expose students to real world supply chain operations. I do this with arranging multiple site visits, guest speakers, careers information sessions, subject prizes, along with bringing my own real-world stories into the classroom each week as examples.
MGMT30012 – Management Consulting
Management Consulting is designed to provide students with an enriched learning experience. Working in cross-disciplinary teams, students will be assigned to a client organisation and will be required to draw on their prior knowledge gained from their studies to address contemporary business problems/opportunities at the individual (e.g. employee satisfaction, customer experience, etc), organisational (e.g. process analysis/improvement, organisational design, etc.) and industry/societal (e.g. industry analysis, go-to-market strategies, etc) level.
