- The applicant's research track record and potential, taking into account career stage;
- The fit of the proposed research with GRAG's areas of interest;
- The potential for meaningful research collaboration with GRAG and University of Melbourne researchers;
- The feasibility of the proposed visit and research plan; and
- Where funding is requested, the justification for and proposed use of GRAG funding.
The assessment panel may invite shortlisted applicants to a brief online meeting, contact nominated referees, and/or request additional information where required.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email, normally within 4–6 weeks of submission.
Successful applicants will receive an offer outlining the approved visit period, any GRAG funding awarded (where applicable), and any conditions associated with the visit.
Offers will be subject to relevant University of Melbourne requirements and approvals.
Applicants are responsible for making their own visa and travel arrangements, where applicable.
