Events and Benefits
Graduating doesn't mean giving up all the benefits of being part of the Faculty community. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event, reunion or lecture in your city and encourage you to take up the wide range of benefits available to you long after you leave the University.
Young Alumni Program
Our young alumni program caters for under 35s and has plenty to offer our new graduates and those early in their careers. The program includes both social and professional development activities which are driven by the Faculty's Young Alumni Committee.
Your Voice and Achievements
The Faculty's Alumni Council are your representatives and welcome your feedback and news. The Council assists the Faculty to celebrate alumni successes via the annual Alumni of Distinction Awards program, We are pleased to announce three new Council members as voted by you in the recent 2016 Alumni Council Elections.
There are many ways to give back to the Faculty. Gifts and donations to the Faculty make a real difference, as do volunteering your time and talent.Your support enables us to offer scholarships to students who have experienced financial or social disadvantage. Gifts can fund global experience and community projects to enrich the student experience. Major gifts can support key initiatives and attract leading researchers to the Faculty.
The Business and Economics Alumni Council supports the mission of the Faculty of Business and Economics by fostering a lifelong connection with its global alumni community for the benefit of students, alumni and the wider university community.
Alumni Council Members
The role of the Alumni Council is to foster networks between alumni and to support the work of the Dean, the Business and Economics Board, and the Advancement Unit.
Young Alumni Committee
The Faculty sees value in investing significant resources into supporting the development of and engagement with the Young Alumni cohort and, as a result, the Young Alumni Committee was formed to deliver one of our most popular alumni programs.

The 2017 Alumni of Distinction Awards were presented at the Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics Annual Dinner on Thursday 9 March.

About the Program
The Faculty of Business and Economics wishes to recognise alumni who have achieved excellence in their chosen profession, and who have made a considerable contribution to the Faculty, the University and their communities through their endeavours. To this end, the Business and Economics Alumni Council has established an annual Alumni of Distinction Awards program.
Alumni of this Faculty reflect our important legacy, with more than 50,000 alumni around the world. The Alumni of Distinction Awards program raises awareness of our alumni and honours their outstanding contribution to government, business and the not-for-profit sector.
Alumni of Distinction awards are presented annually and are not limited or extended to one per category; rather, they are awarded based on merit. As such, the number of awards may vary from year to year.
Rising Star Award for Young Alumni
An individual who is under 35 years of age and has demonstrated an outstanding level of professional achievement and community involvement since graduating from the University of Melbourne and/or recognition by colleagues and peers of outstanding leadership and impact as a global citizen.
Contribution to Faculty or University Award
An individual who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the Faculty or the University, either through philanthropy, research, student impact or outstanding leadership, and which has benefited the reputation of the Faculty or University.
An individual who who has achieved significant and recognised impact in business, government or the non-profit sector through leadership in career to date.
Outstanding Achievement Award
An individual who has achieved long-term, sustained and outstanding achievement and leadership in business, government or the non-profit sector.
All alumni of the Faculty of Business and Economics in any location are eligible to be nominated for an award subject to the selection criteria listed below. Nominations for candidates to be considered for an Alumni of Distinction Award are sought from the alumni community. All alumni of the Faculty of Business and Economics are eligible to nominate a candidate, and are not limited as to the number of nominations put forward.
A committee, including representatives from the Business and Economics Alumni Council and the Faculty, will review all nominations and prepare a short-list of candidates to put forward to the full Alumni Council for a vote.
We encourage all alumni to submit candidates who fulfil the requirements and whom they believe should be considered for an award.
- Recipients must be alumni of the Faculty;
- Recipients must have demonstrated excellence in the category for which they are nominated;
- Recipients must have made an outstanding contribution to the Faculty, the University or the wider community and have achieved recognition by colleagues and/or peers as providing outstanding leadership in their area of endeavour;
- Current Faculty staff and members of the Business and Economics Board or Alumni Council are not eligible for an award (nominations for past members are permitted).

If you would like to nominate a candidate for an award but are not sure if they graduated with a degree from the Faculty of Business and Economics at The University of Melbourne, we can check this information for you.
