The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne welcomed a delegation from Indonesia’s prestigious Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), led by Professor Aurik Gustomo, Dean of the School of business and Management, for the official signing of a new undergraduate articulation agreement.
The signing marks the establishment of a new undergraduate 2+2 double degree pathway between ITB’s School of Business and Management and the Faculty of Business and Economics, enabling students to undertake part of their studies at the University of Melbourne and, subject to meeting academic requirements, graduate with degrees from both institutions.
For students, this collaboration opens doors to a rewarding international undergraduate experience, combining academic study with cross-cultural learning and fresh perspectives on business education that will help shape future careers. For the Faculty, it represents a meaningful step in expanding global learning opportunities and strengthening internationally focused education.
Institut Teknologi Bandung is one of Indonesia’s most prestigious universities, known for excellence in science, engineering and innovation. Its School of Business and Management integrates technology and business education to prepare graduates for leadership across industry and government. Together with the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne, both institutions share a strong commitment to educating future change-makers who can contribute meaningfully to business and society in a global context.
The agreement builds on discussions initiated in 2022, when Professor Paul Kofman, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, visited Bandung to explore opportunities for collaboration. Since then, engagement has developed through academic exchanges, guest lectures and connections supported through the Faculty’s CABE fellowship.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to create meaningful pathways for high achieving ITB students to continue their studies within the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, and to graduate with degrees from both institutions,” Professor Kofman said.
“By strengthening our ties with Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne, we are fostering academic excellence across the Asia-Pacific to empower the next generation of leaders with sustainable, inclusive solutions that drive lasting global impact.” Professor Gustomo said.
The ITB delegation attending the ceremony included Professor Aurik Gustomo (Dean, School of Business and Management), Dr Ira Fachira (Associate Dean for Student Recruitment, Global Engagement and Reputation), and Professor Pepen Arifin (Head of Commission 1, Academic Senate).
Representing the University of Melbourne were Professor Paul Kofman (Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics), Associate Professor Andrea Lu (Associate Dean, International), and Associate Professor Sean Pinder (Assistant Dean, Undergraduate).
The signing formalises the FBE-ITB agreement in the final months of Professor Kofman’s 14‑year tenure as Dean.
