Dean’s Letter – Start of Semester 2, 2024

Dear students,

Welcome back to campus for Semester 2. For those of you beginning your journey with us as new students, we are pleased to have you join us at the Faculty of Business and Economics. For those of you returning, I hope your break was pleasant and you are now feeling refreshed and ready to learn.

The start of each new semester is an exciting time, and it is always nice to see students participating events planned by our Faculty members. You can find a schedule of activities for BCom students here and for MBS students here.

You’ll find all the information you need about the co-curricular and curricular activities, programs and opportunities provided by the Faculty on the FBE Engagement Planner webpage. You can learn about opportunities, like case competitions, then add them to a personal online planner.

Social connection is an important part of the University experience, and there are many clubs, societies and sporting teams looking for new members. You are never alone at FBE or the University and there is a lot of support available if you need it, whether it be to improve your academic skills or for your personal wellbeing. You can also visit Stop 1 at 757 Swanston St for help.

I would also like to encourage you to consider downloading the SafeZone App on your phone. It is a direct line to University Security should you need their help. You can also book a free security escort if you ever feel unsafe getting around the Parkville campus.

I look forward to seeing you around campus.

All the best,

Professor Paul Kofman
