Dear Students,
As we move into warmer weather, the end of the second semester is coming to a close. I hope that everyone has had a fantastic year of learning and that you were able to further develop your knowledge through lectures and tutorials, as well as participate in many fantastic seminars and events held on campus and making new connections with your fellow peers.
FBE paid homage to 100 years of the faculty’s existence, highlighting and celebrating the achievements from the past to today. The FBE centenary page presents a collection of stories and archives that takes you through time, exploring the history and development of what is now Australia's leading faculty for Business and Economics.
I trust that many of you are preparing for your end-of-year examinations. This is an important time to plan for success and approach your final assessment with a positive attitude, applying the hard work and dedication you have shown throughout the year.
To help you prepare, the University has a list of helpful resources, including guidance on preparing for various types of exams, Stop 1, exam timetables and FAQs. You can also find additional resources via your my.unimelb page.
I also want to highlight the importance of taking care of your mental health and wellbeing, especially as study-related stress can naturally arise. Please remember that support is available, including workshops and webinars, self-help resources, Counselling and Psychological (CAPS) Services and Student Unions.
The FBE Student Wellbeing team is also here to assist with connection, referrals and focused programs. You can contact them confidentially to book and appointment or visit in person at 99 Barry Street (Building 326).
For students returning next year, the Faculty provides a range of scholarships and grant opportunities in the new year, that can help with financial load. Noting that applications closing soon, I recommend applying now to ensure you do not miss out.
FBE has partnerships with top-ranked business schools across the globe, where you can take part in studying overseas for short-term, semester and year-long programs. This is a terrific opportunity for personal growth, to immerse yourself in a new culture, and to advance your career while continuing your studies. Applications are open now and close on Monday, 24 November.
There are also a range of Summer Internships and programs closing soon. Information can be found on your FBE Student Calendar page. To close out the year, several FBE events covering thought-provoking topics that will be running until the end of November.
For FBE graduates, this year holds particular significance as you become the University's centenary graduate cohort. It is an exciting opportunity to celebrate your achievements as you embark in the next stages of your learning and career journey. I recommend reviewing the steps for graduating and become familiar with before the big day.
The University also has excellent employability and career resources to help you plan and launch you into a successful career ahead.
I wish everyone the best of luck in your exams. Remember to take care of yourselves and each other during this busy period. Stay safe during the summer holidays and I look forward to seeing you back on campus for the start of next semester.
