Rick Sawers

Rick recently retired from his role as a member of the Group Executive Leadership team at NAB after a long and distinguished career with NAB and ANZ. During that time he held roles at NAB as Group Executive, Products & Marketing (2013-14), Group Executive, Wholesale Banking (2009-13), Deputy CEO nabCapital (2007-9), Group Treasurer (2005-7), and most recently Group Executive-People (Acting) (2015) and Enterprise Executive (a mentoring role for new Group Executives, as well as leading key initiatives) (2014-15). He commenced his career at NAB in 1971. And had roles such as chief foreign exchange trader, Head of Markets (Australia and overseas), and managing the bank’s funding and portfolios. He left NAB in 1994 to become Group Treasurer at ANZ (1994-2002) and Managing Director Foreign Exchange and Commodities (2002-4), before returning to NAB.

While at NAB, Rick had additional roles as Chairman, Great Western Bancorporation (USA) and Director, Clydesdale Bank (UK) and was actively involved in the IPOs / demergers of those banks. He was a Board member (and Chair) of AFMA. He is a life member of the Financial markets Foundation for Children in recognition of his activities over many years in lead roles for that charity.

Rick is currently (since 2014) a Board Member of EFIC, (Export Finance and Insurance Corporation), and (since 2015) of ARLF, (Australian Rural Leadership Foundation).

Rick has a Diploma of Finance of International Trade (Australian Institute of Export) and has attended Harvard Business School for Executive education (PMD program).
