Exemption Information
From 2020, the Centre no longer supply exemption lists for actuarial subjects. Students will be informed of their exemption marks by lecturers who teach relevant subjects.
To determine your exemption eligibility, please read the Actuarial Exemptions and Pathway to Qualifications Guide.
To apply for exemptions, please
- Download the Exemption Recommendation Letter
- Complete the exemption recommendation letter. Note that it is not necessary to obtain the signature of the Nominated Accreditation Actuary on the letter. We will arrange the signature after processing your application.
- Go to https://forms.office.com/r/fwr2tmfqWT, answer the relevant questions and upload the completed recommendation letter. Please use your current or previous UoM account to log in. If you no longer have access to your UoM account, please email the completed form to econ-actenquiries@lists.unimelb.edu.au.
For students enrolled in degree programs (e.g., Bachelor of Commerce, Honours year, Master of Commerce, or Master of Actuarial Science), please submit your application upon each degree completion rather than after each exemption subject. For students in single-subject study, please submit your application as soon as you become eligible for each exemption.
If you have any questions regarding your application, please contact the email address above.
How to fill out the exemption recommendation letter:
- Fill in your personal information correctly.

What happens after you submit the exemption recommendation letter:

If you are not eligible, we will contact you to advise why the recommendation letter cannot be signed. Additional supporting documentation may be requested if required.
- You will receive an email notification from the Actuarial Institute on the exemptions granted.
