Queer in Corporate Evening

On September 19, 2024, the FBE hosted the "Queer in Corporate Evening," a successful panel and networking event by the Queer Commerce Club, Out For Australia, and 180 Degrees Consulting, with 80 attendees from academia and top firms like EY, Deloitte, and Workday. LGBTQIA+ panellists discussed their corporate experiences and strategies for fostering inclusive cultures, providing insights that enhanced understanding and connectivity within the queer community at FBE and MBSL.

The Faculty of Business and Economics was proud to host the "Queer in Corporate Evening" on September 19, 2024, an enlightening panel discussion and networking event organised by the Queer Commerce Club, Out For Australia, and 180 Degrees Consulting. The event welcomed around 80 participants, including 50 students and 30 professionals from prominent firms such as EY, Deloitte, and Workday, offering a unique platform for LGBTQIA+ individuals to share their experiences and insights about navigating corporate environments.

Panelists discussed a range of topics, from personal experiences with diversity and inclusion programs to challenges such as discrimination in education and the workplace. The discussions also covered strategies for cultivating an inclusive and robust workplace culture. These conversations not only highlighted the current state of queer inclusion in corporate settings but also explored actionable steps that could further support queer students and staff within the FBE.

Following the panel discussion, attendees engaged in a networking session, allowing students and staff to connect with queer industry professionals and allies. This part of the evening proved invaluable for building relationships and fostering a sense of community among queer individuals within the university and beyond.
