Embracing Neurodiversity Across Campus

Featuring distinguished experts in the field of neurodiversity, this workshop aims to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and encourage dialogue surrounding neurodiversity among staff and students.

Dr. Gamze Koseoglu, a senior lecturer in the Management and Marketing Department, organized the "Embracing Neurodiversity Across Campus" panel with a catered lunch on June 18, 2024. The event was sponsored by the FBE-MBSL D&I Small Grants Program and proved to be a resounding success, selling out and attracting contributions from both industry and academia.

Meredith Ward, the lead neuro-inclusion specialist at Auticon, shared strategies that companies can implement to foster neuro-confidence, acceptance, and inclusion. Dr. Matthew Harrison from the Faculty of Education discussed the University of Melbourne Neurodiversity Project and conducted a needs analysis for neurodiverse staff at the university. Dr. Kirsten Day from the Faculty of Architecture, Building, and Planning highlighted innovative designs for spaces that accommodate neurodiverse employees and students. Dr. Koseoglu presented her research on neurodiversity in management and stressed the need for further research in this important area.

The event concluded with a lively panel discussion, during which audience members engaged with the presenters by asking insightful questions.
