The Faculty also houses the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research which, for over sixty years, has been driving policy and practice in macroeconomics, labour economic and social policy, health economics and the economics of education, early child development, and social disadvantage. The Melbourne Institute also delivers the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey every year.
