Peter Gunn AM revolutionised freight logistics in Australia and is known for his philanthropic efforts through the Rae & Peter Gunn Family Foundation.
Founder of PGA Group, investor and philanthropist
Peter Gunn began his career in the transport industry working as a truck driver while studying his BCom degree. As the founder of transport company Cubico, he pioneered innovative freight logistics strategies and developed vehicles capable of carrying greater cubic volumes, transforming the cubic freight market. Those optimisations and processes are still widely used today.
In 1999, he merged PGA (Logistics) with Mayne Nickless Limited to create MPG (Logistics) Pty Ltd. PGA group sold its shares in this merged vehicle in 2000. Since 2001, PGA Group Pty Ltd has operated as a family-owned company that invests in commerce, property and other investments.
Peter Gunn was made a Member of the Order of the Australia (AM) for his services to the transport industry and the development of innovative freight logistics strategies. He was an inaugural member of the Faculty Advisory Board from 21 November 2007 to 2022. He has held various positions, including Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Trustee of the Australian Road Transport Forum and Member of the Australian Logistics Council.
Gunn and his family generously donate to charitable causes, including the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Leukaemia Foundation, and to research, including the Faculty of Business and Economics, through the Rae & Peter Gunn Family Foundation.
