Assistant Professor Qisha Quarina
Qisha received her Bachelor degree in Economics from the Department of Economics, Universitas Indonesia in 2009. She then continued her study in the United Kingdom where she obtained her Master’s degree in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in 2012 with a full funding from the Chevening scholarship award, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Lancaster University in 2017 with full scholarship from the NWDTC-ESRC UK. Her PhD thesis examines the scarring effects of unemployment and economic inactivity in the UK labor market, utilizing the survival analysis discrete time method. Before joining Universitas Gadjah Mada, she worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Economics, Universitas Indonesia from 2017-2021. She also used to work as a junior researcher at Lembaga Demografi, Universitas Indonesia. Qisha joined the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada in February 2021. She is currently an Assistant Professor and researcher under the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), and also the Coordinator of Center for Microeconomics Research and Dashboard under the Department of Economics, FEB UGM. Her fields of interest specifically are labor economics, education economics, population economics, and development economics. Qisha has served as an external expert for several ministries and international organizations such as the ILO, GIZ, the Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia, and the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia. She is currently working on the research topics regarding workers’ social protections, youth unemployment and inactivity, and severance payment. Personally, Qisha is an industrious, persistent, and committed person who highly upholds integrity and determination. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and exercising.
