Student Ambassador and Leadership Programs

The Faculty’s Student Ambassador and Leadership Programs give you the opportunity to do all of this while making a positive impact on your student community.
BCom Student Ambassadors
BCom students are invited to volunteer and get involved in Faculty of Business and Economics events. There’s no minimum hour requirement and no long-term commitment. Instead, participate in as little or as much as you want to earn recognition prizes.

What we are looking for
- Outgoing personality
- Knowledge of Faculty of Business and Economics programs
- Ability to speak to diverse groups of people
- Willingness to share your own experiences and learn new skills

Eligibility
- Completed at least 50 points of study as a BCom student at the time of application
- Have a genuine interest in giving back - as a Student Ambassador you will be guiding new students through their first year at university
- Must be available to participate in Orientation as the minimum requirement

BCom Student Ambassador Leaders
Are you a natural leader? Have you led a group of students before, or do you want to? Do you enjoy speaking to people? Student Ambassador Leaders will represent the BCom student voice and partner with the Faculty and a small group of Student Leaders to lead student ambassadors and Faculty events and activities. As a Student Ambassador Leader, you’ll have an active role in shaping the student experience.

- Knowledge of Faculty of Business and Economics programs
- Rich experience with student life across the University (including UMSU, Academic Skills, Careers & Employability Resources, sports clubs, wellbeing and counselling services, where to go for help)

Eligibility
- Completed at least 50 points of study as a BCom student at the time of application
- Have awareness or been involved in the student community through Faculty programs and events, clubs and societies, etc.
- Have a genuine interest in giving back - as a Student Ambassador Leader you will be guiding new students through their first year at university
- Be able to commit to the entire program's activities (listed below)
- Be available to assist at key University events including recruitment events

Attendance requirements and key dates
Student Ambassador Leaders are expected to devote approximately 16 hours to the program across one academic semester.
Events and activities include:
- Orientation
- Student Leaders Meetings
- Professional development workshops
- Student events and activities, like breakfasts, RUOK Day, etc.
- Other activities requiring Student Leader participation
