"I never expected how much I could get out of the week on both a professional and personal level. As Global Voices scholars, we were exposed to world leaders and discovered the big economic issues facing the world."

About the 2024 fellowship

This year, the University of Melbourne Faculty of Business and Economics is offering one fully funded fellowship to FBE students for each of the four delegations.

  • AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland (May)
  • Higher Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York, USA (July)
  • International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings (AGM) in Washington, USA (October)
  • Climate COP under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Azerbaijan (November)

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Switzerland, USA, or Azerbaijan to experience how global decision making happens. We encourage anyone who is passionate about making a difference to apply for this opportunity.

What is included?

The Global Voices Fellowship program includes:

  • Travel to Canberra for a 3-day departure briefing and upskilling program
  • Travel to an international conference
  • Support to write and publish a policy proposal that contributes a fresh perspective to domestic and global decision-making.

Across the course of the Global Voices program, you will develop a 2,500-word policy paper which proposes practical recommendations on a topic related to the delegation agenda. With the assistance of the Global Voices Delegations Managers, Fellows will conduct their own research into their chosen subject matter, use their first-hand delegation experience to develop their ideas further, and polish off their paper upon their return home. Papers that meet the GV Journal standard are then published in the Global Voices Journal and shared with key policy stakeholders and networks so their work can be celebrated by the broader community.

During the program, you will also have the remarkable opportunity to attend private meetings with subject matter experts, esteemed academics, Commonwealth Government Departmental Secretaries, Members of the Australian Parliament and leaders of civil society and private organisations.

The GV Fellowship program goes beyond education, offering life-changing opportunities that shape the future of Australian leadership.

You can find out more about the GV Fellowship here.

How much does it cost?

The Fellowship is fully funded by the University of Melbourne Faculty of Business and Economics, and includes all domestic and international flights, accommodation, breakfasts, visas, insurance, and registration fees (you will need to cover the cost of meals and some transfers).
