FBE Preparing for Canvas - Workshop Announcement

In addition to the University wide Canvas workshops offered by Learning Environments, the WIlliams Centre for Learning Advancement and Learning Environments have scheduled four workshops to assist the Faculty with the transition to Canvas.

We strongly encourage academics to attend the below sessions. Participants are encouraged to being their laptop/tablet so they can engage in hands-on activities.


Curious About Canvas?

This session will provide an overview of the new LMS - Canvas. Since all subjects will be taught using Canvas from semester 1, 2020, it is important lecturers feel prepared. Participants of this session will learn about:

  • New opportunities for building learning resources
  • The types of activities Canvas can support,
  • Communication and collaboration tools within Canvas
Monday 25 November

Canvas: Enhancing the Student Experience

In this session, participants will compare various ways of setting up learning activities and materials in Canvas. Discussions will include how to best utilise the features in Canvas to enhance both the in-class and online student experience. Practical advice on 'reshaping' migrated Blackboard content will also be offered

Assessment and Feedback with Canvas

This workshop will provide an overview of assessment and feedback tools from both a student and staff perspective.

Wednesday 27 November

Kaltura Video Management System

This introductory workshop will provide participants with basic skills for using Kaltura with Canvas such as:.
- Uploading and publishing videos in  subjects,
- Embedding videos into online subject content, and
- Submission of student video assignments
