2020 CSS Student-Nominated Teaching Excellence Award
Congratulations to Associate Professor David Byrne for being awarded the CSS 2020 Student-Nominated Teaching Excellence Award at its first virtual presentation.
David Byrne was selected by his econometrics students as he “provided personalised Zoom sessions each week to ensure every student kept up with the content that was being covered and his lectures were broken into multiple 1-hour topics so that the content was more easily understood by students on an online platform. Moreover, A/Professor Byrne was proactive in attending to student’s needs and gave detailed feedback on all assessment pieces and content questions. David’s use of a double screen allowed students to see his face while watching the lecture, allowing greater connection and engagement from students.
Additionally, David’s passion, commitment, enthusiasm and deep understanding of the content he teaches inspired his students, even during these tough times, to reach their potential." A screenshot of the presentation ceremony is below.
A/Professor Asjeet Lamba was also recognised for his commitment to student learning, alongside Mr. Pao Franco, Assoc Prof Matthew Greenwood – Nimmo, and Mr. Julian Panetta.
Congratulations to all academics for this recognition and commitment to student learning.
