Promotions: Crafting your Teaching Narrative
Professional Development Workshop
This seminar will review how to construct a teaching narrative to incorporate in a promotion application. Such an application is relevant to teaching and research academics as well as teaching specialists. During the seminar participants will receive guidance in aligning evidence of good teaching with The Melbourne Way; the University's core pedagogical ethos. As well as reflecting on one's own teaching, participants will have opportunities to ask questions and will be shown exemplars to better understand committee expectations.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- understand FBE and broader University promotions expectations for the Teaching criteria
- use a broad criterion to evidence teaching practice
- describe their teaching practice using the Melbourne Way framework (this replaces the Nine Principles of Teaching)
Presenter: Professor Angela Paladino and Ms. Miriam Edwards.
