The aim of this self-paced workshop is to introduce participants to the benefits of small group teaching in both face-to-face and online classes. It will demonstrate how appropriate activities foster engagement and deep learning, while developing a range of students’ employability skills (such as communication, presentation, problem-solving, negotiation and collaborative/teamwork skills).

Delivery Format: This is a self-paced online workshop. Participants complete this professional development during the specified dates (3-week period).

On completion of this self-paced workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the characteristics of different types of small group teaching activities
  • Identify points in your lesson relevant for small group teaching
  • Evaluate small group teaching activities and select the most appropriate for meeting the learning outcomes of your subject
  • Implement strategies for facilitating and managing small group teaching in your classroom
