There are many ways to teach effectively in a small class environment. This workshop will explore techniques for engaging students in small classes to optimise their learning. It will include a review of different strategies for small group learning activities and a number of these will be incorporated in the session so that participants get a chance to experience how they work from the perspective of both the teacher and the student.

Participants will:

  • Explore ways to harness students’ prior knowledge
  • Learn how to sequence and build on learning activities
  • Design activities to encourage students to think more deeply about key concepts
  • Develop a lesson plan to be used in their own teaching
