Writing A Teaching Philosophy
A teaching philosophy is a brief, yet powerful statement about you as an educator. Crafting such a statement involves reflecting upon the goals you have for your students and how those goals are enacted through your teaching. Teaching philosophies are key elements within awards, confirmation and promotions applications. During this 2-hour workshop, participants will be guided through a reflective writing process and be provided the opportunity to develop such a statement.
On completion of this workshop participants should be able to:
- Identify the main components of a teaching philosophy/teaching statement
- Draft a narrative of their teaching practice
- Discuss their teaching success and provide specific examples
- Achieve substantial progress towards a draft teaching philosophy
