Strategies for Successful Online Lecture Design
This workshop offers ideas to reconsider and refresh lecture design when teaching online. Participants will be introduced to strategies to encourage deeper interactions with content, promote active learning, produce rich and high-value content and reducing cognitive load. Using a student-centred approach, this workshop will expose participants to a number of strategies that highlight the importance of the connections between information design principles, cognitive processes and effective delivery. This would suit tutors and lecturers who wish to create a toolkit of practical and successful strategies to use in online teaching and who are looking for ways to redesign and refresh content.
On completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Revise their lecture structure to maximise student learning
- Redesign and evaluate their own online lecture design to improve engagement with content
- Reduce cognitive load to improve knowledge retention and content structure
