The sustained presence of a global pandemic has impacted how we deliver our subjects, programs and the student experience. The theme of the 2022 WCLA Symposium explores how Covid has changed our teaching landscape. The event enables us to learn from colleagues, with our keynote speaker from an Ivy League institution, challenging us to reconsider how we recognize and reward teaching for academic staff in a research-intensive university. The symposium will bring together presentations, interactive activities, and practical insights. The two main sessions will focus on enhancing subject design and how to enhance teaching impact via research and publications. We will showcase examples of innovative practices in teaching and learning. Our panel, a traditional highlight of the day, will feature our PVC (Education), FBE academics, tutors and student representation. They will explore what the future of teaching and learning should look like in FBE.
We encourage you to peruse the program and register your attendance. We are looking forward to seeing you on campus to join us for some or all sessions across the day.
The event will be held in The Woodward Conference Centre. Covid-safe practices will be exercised, and participants will be encouraged to wear masks as needed. A hybrid option is available for those who are unable to attend in person. Please indicate this option upon registration. Symposium Packs will be provided to those who attend in person.
