"Applying Universal Design to Aid Learning"
Universal design is the practice of developing products and services which meet the needs of as many people as possible without modification. As our student cohort is becoming increasingly diverse, universal design for instruction (UDI) offers timely strategies for inclusive business educators.
During this session, participants will be introduced to the principles of UDI and how they might play out in their teaching.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Recognise and recall principles of UDI
- Identify opportunities to incorporate UDI principles into their teaching
- Locate technologies and resources to support UDI practices within their teaching
Apply appropriate UDI strategies within one’s teaching for face-to-face, online or blended delivery
Facilitator
Miriam Edwards is an Educational Designer at the Williams Centre for Learning Advancement. She is also a doctoral student at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. Miriam has extensive experience in higher education which includes teaching, curriculum renewal and subject design. Her research interests are in designing online courses which are both innovative and accessible to students with diverse needs.
