Human Ethics at the University of Melbourne
Overview
Human ethics approval is required for all research conducted with or about people, or their data. The purpose of ethics review is to facilitate research that fulfils the principles of human research ethics – research merit and integrity, justice, beneficence and respect.
Applying for ethics approvals for research projects
The Office of Research Ethics and Integrity (OREI), University of Melbourne, delivers and administers the framework for reviewing ethics applications and monitors on-going research projects involving human participants.
Applications for Human Ethics are submitted through the Infonetica Ethics Research Management (ERM) System. Infonetica Ethics Review Manager (ERM) has now replaced Themis Workbench for animal ethics applications, amendments and reporting.
