Thesis: Engineers in Australia and the Arab Gulf Region: Uncovering Drivers of Retention and Attrition
Maryam Raji is a final-year PhD candidate in Management. She holds a first-class honours degree in Electronic, Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a master’s degree in Engineering Systems Management from the American University of Sharjah, UAE. Maryam’s PhD research uses quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate the retention of engineers in Australia and the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries. Her research focuses on enhancing the Human Resource function via improved employee experiences and reduced turnover. Her research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals. Maryam has tutored undergraduate subjects in engineering and management in the UAE and Australia. She also has work experience as an engineer in the telecommunications and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries. She has worked for organisations in Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
