Donghoon Koo

Department of Economics

Donghoon is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics at the University of Melbourne. His research areas of interest include macroeconomics, demographic changes and housing market. In particular, he is interested in understanding the general equilibrium effect of current (and projected) demographic trends i.e., aging population on macroeconomy. His first chapter develops a simple model to analyse the impact of a fall in fertility rate and/or increase in life expectancy on various macroeconomic variables such as real interest rate, household consumption and output per capita. The subsequent studies then investigate the role of the housing sector and financial sector in mitigating or exacerbating such trends.
