Ajanee is a 5th year PhD Candidate at the Department of Accounting. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), UK, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (first class honours) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Ajanee has previously worked as a financial analyst, an equity portfolio manager and a lecturer in accounting at various institutions in Sri Lanka.
Ajanee’s key research focus is on management control systems in creativity and innovation contexts. She has presented her work in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Ajanee was the representative PhD student from the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) to take part in the American Accounting Association’s Doctoral Symposium in 2019. She was also awarded the Peter Brownell Scholarship for best performance in the first year of the PhD program (2016), Faculty of Business & Economics Doctoral Program scholarship (2015-2019) and three gold medals in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (2013).
