"It wouldn’t have been possible without the significant support and opportunities provided to me over the years by the University, Faculty and the Department of Accounting. When accepting the award I felt it should be shared with the wonderful colleagues, collaborators and students from whom I learned so much over the years. They were so influential in my thinking and development. I am extremely grateful to them and wish to thank them most sincerely," said Prof Abernethy.

Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Professor Paul Kofman, congratulated Professor Abernethy.

“We are pleased to see Maggie being recognised for the contributions she has made to her field and for her years of hard work. We are fortunate she has spent a lot of her career as part of our academic community, including as our Dean. We congratulate Maggie for the well-deserved award,” said Professor Kofman.

Professor Abernethy was presented with the award during a ceremony in January 2023.
