Global award for transformational online education

The Future of Management Education Alliance and the University of Melbourne receive international recognition for innovative approach to online learning and business education.

How can technology change education? This was a critical question addressed by 1,518 educational innovators from 84 countries at the 2019 Reimagine Education Awards & Conference held in London last month.

The University of Melbourne, as part of the Future of Management Education (FOME) Alliance, was successfully awarded the Gold award for Business Education and the Silver award for e-Learning.

A panel of over 180 international judges evaluated outstanding standards for innovation, scalability, efficacy, and uniqueness.

The FOME alliance includes the University of Melbourne, ESMT Berlin, SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Imperial College Business School, BI Norwegian Business School, EDHEC Business School, IE Business school, and Ivey Business School.

Faculty of Business and Economics Dean, Professor Paul Kofman, said the early international recognition of the alliance - having only formed last year - speaks to the power of educational collaboration.

“Through working with like-minded business schools, we have been able to deliver the highest quality online educational experience that addresses the shifting demands of the next generation of students,” Professor Kofman said.

“Underpinned by the University of Melbourne’s strategic focus on lifelong learning, the FOME Alliance enables us to meet the diverse needs of our students and the industries they serve.”

FOME Alliance members use Insendi, a shared innovative digital learning platform that combines faculty expertise with cutting-edge technology and educational design, to meet growing demand from students, professionals and executives for a more flexible, bespoke and globally accessible study experience.
