Global Alliance to Revolutionise Management Education

The University of Melbourne has joined six of the world’s leading business schools to form the Future of Management Education Alliance, the first collaboration of its kind in the business education sector.

The Future of Management Education Alliance will launch a new digital learning platform that combines faculty expertise with cutting-edge technology to meet growing demand from students and executives for a more flexible, bespoke and globally accessible study experience.

Alliance members are: Imperial College Business School, ESMT Berlin, BI Norwegian Business School, the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University, Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario, EDHEC Business School, and the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. Partner schools aim to enhance the student experience by complementing face-to-face learning with experiential and online learning. Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Paul Kofman said: “The global economy is becoming increasingly competitive and business education must be responsive to this dynamic environment”.

“We are committed to providing the highest standard of education in innovative and flexible ways. Underpinned by the University of Melbourne’s strategic focus on lifelong learning, this Alliance will better enable us to meet the diverse needs of our students and the industries they serve,” Professor Kofman said.

The University of Melbourne delivers business and management programs online and on campus. Melbourne Business School Deputy Dean Nasser Spear said that partnering with the world’s leading business schools provided a solid foundation to better meet market demand.

“The custom-built, shared technology platform for management education will enable us to grow our existing online offering, as well as deliver new and exciting products to meet ever-changing graduate and executive education needs. Students will have access to internationally renowned business courses, resources and talent, and will benefit from a more global learning experience, with stackable and complimentary subject offerings,” Professor Spear said.

The Alliance will also provide academic staff with access to expert digital training, consultancy and programme development support to ensure greater ownership over online offerings, and the necessary skills to develop new courses.
