Professor Cynthia Hardy and Professor Karen Jehn have been honoured by the University of Melbourne for their outstanding academic service.
Professor Hardy has been re-appointed as a Melbourne Laureate Professor and Professor Jehn has been awarded the title of Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor.
Such honours are reserved for the University's most distinguished academic staff recognising continued and outstanding contribution to the University.
"It is a great honour to be awarded a Redmond Barry Distinguished Professorship at this point in my career," said Professor Jehn.
"I arrived in Australia and at the University of Melbourne with a warm welcome in 2008 and since have established life-long friendships and collaborations, without which much of my work over the past 9 years would not have be possible. Key research during this time has been my work on the effects of conflict asymmetry on work group and individual outcomes, and research examining the effects of entitlement in leaders and teams."
Professor Jehn is a Professor of Organisation Behaviour at Melbourne Business School. Her research focuses on intragroup conflict, group composition and performance, and lying in organisations. She also works on the asymmetry of perceptions and member entitlement in workgroups. She is widely published and has previously held the position of acting Editor of the Conflict and Dispute Resolution Journal.
Professor Hardy is an Honorary Professor at Cardiff Business School, a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and an Honorary member of EGOS (the European Group on Organisation Studies). She is one of only two professors in Australia ranked by the Thomson Reuters as a highly cited researcher in the field of Business and Economics. Prof Hardy researches discourse, power and organisational change. She has published ten books and over sixty articles in refereed journals.
