Peter Monkhouse

Peter has been with BHP Billiton for 14 years where he has worked on a number of projects including:

  • Defending the third-party rail access case in the Pilbara;
  • The Olympic Dam expansion project;
  • A potential Outer Harbour for Iron Ore; and
  • Peer reviewing a variety of acquisition and divestments in a range of countries.

Peter graduated as an Electrical Engineer from University of Western Australia in 1981 and worked as a professional engineer for seven years.Whilst undertaking an MBA he moved to investment banking and worked with UBS for eight years, including spending one year in its London Office. Peter then worked for Rio Tinto for four years, three of which were spent in the London Office where he worked on a number of potential acquisitions and projects.

Peter has published and acts as a referee in the areas of cost of capital and real options.He is a keen sailor, an enthusiastic reader, and is married with three children.
