Information Session 2022
Honours in Economics program at the University of Melbourne

Are you thinking about how you can become a professional economist ready to work in the government sector, consulting, finance or business?

Or are you wondering where some of Australia’s leading economists first trained in economics?

Or do you want to know which program has delivered at least a dozen students straight into top international economics postgraduate programs including MIT, Yale, Stanford, New York, Northwestern and Oxford in the past 10 years?

The answer in all cases is the Honours in Economics Program at the University of Melbourne.

The Program is an intensive full-time one-year course of study including 6 single-semester subjects (3 each semester) and completion of a year-long research essay under the guidance of an adviser from the Economics academic team.

Entry into the Program (places are limited) is based on your results in the following 3 subjects, on your overall undergraduate WAM and on a one-page description of a potential research project you submit with your application.

ECON30009 Macroeconomics,
ECON30010 Microeconomics, and
ECOM30002 Econometrics 2

Applications are completed online using the link provided on the following webpage, and are due by Friday 12 November:

There should be ample time for answering your questions during the session. We may also have a recent Honours graduate and/or a current Honours student in attendance to give you the student perspective on a challenging yet ultimately rewarding year.

I hope to see you there.
