CALD/Anti-racism action plan
The University culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)/anti-racism action plan is outlined to develop an action plan to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) staff and students, including promotion of anti-racism. Currently, the University has signed up for the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Racism. It Stops with Me campaign, to recognize the importance of addressing racism within our community.

UMSU People of Colour Department
The UMSU People of Colour Department aims to promote welfare, provide a safe space, and fight against racism for people of Aboriginal, African, Arab, Asian, Indigenous, Latin, Jewish, Pacific Islander, multiracial, and other relevant backgrounds. The UMSU People of Colour Department launched the BIPOC Grants Program to engage more extensively with students of colour and acknowledge the breadth of their work. These grants allow students of colour to plan and deliver a project that benefits other students in their academic cohort or the wider student community.

Anti-racism Hallmark Research Initiative
The Anti-Racism Hallmark Research Initiative responds to the imperative of anti-racism. The goal is to undertake and disseminate solutions-focused anti-racism research and interventions to combat racism at both the interpersonal and structural levels. This research initiative will do this in collaboration with the government, community organisations and businesses.

Research Unit for Multilingualism and Cross-Cultural Communication
Research Unit for Multilingualism and Cross-Cultural Communication (RUMACCC) conducts research in Australian and international contexts in fields such as the maintenance and development of bi- and multilingualism. The research unit conducts regular free workshops for parents raising their children in more than one language, teachers and others interested in bilingual education.
