Glenn Carland

Glenn Carland - BCom (1981)

Candidate Summary
As a semi-retired former Asia Pacific human resources executive I am keen to use my new-found spare time to re-engage with Melbourne University and its alumni, particularly the Faculty of Business & Economics. I see immense value in helping alumni members interconnect whether it be locally, across Asia Pacific or globally, maximising social, business and altruistic benefits that can be gained through alumni connectivity. I am excited at the prospect of being involved in facilitating this by being an active member of the Business & Economics Alumni Council. A very busy working and family life has to date prevented me from pursuing goals such as alumni council membership and now that I have pulled back from corporate life I am finally in a position to contribute. I believe that my wealth of business and international (primarily Asia Pacific) experience, particularly in transformative human resources, puts me in a great position to be a useful member of the Alumni Council. I also notice that the current team of council members does not include specific human resources experience and the addition of someone with a background such as mine would add another important dimension to the makeup of the council. If elected, I would be an enthusiastic and passionate member of the council and hopefully a very positive contributor.
