Clement Peng -  BCom (2007)

Candidate Statement

It was my great pleasure to serve as a Councillor of FBE Alumni Council for the past three years, and I would like to continue contributing and supporting our alumni community, to reconnect our fellow members both interstate and overseas.

I was born and raised in China and moved to Australia during my teenage years. I attended high school in Melbourne and completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Actuarial Study at the University of Melbourne.

Similar to most international students, I had to work for several non-actuarial-related jobs while waiting for my permanent resident visa. I later joined the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) as part of the graduate program in 2010. My role at APRA involved financial analysis, risk management framework assessment, engagement with senior banking executives relating to strategy and risk governance, and liaising with domestic and international regulators. After receiving my long-service leave, I decided to move into the banking industry and currently working in the regulatory compliance area.

In my spare time, I have always been passionate about giving back to society and University,   and I was elected as the Committee member of the University Alumni Association – Sydney Branch since 2015. I was in charge of the Digital Communication Subcommittee (2016) and created the Sydney Alumni WeChat Group as well as serving as the Treasurer (2017).

As a University Alumni member, I joined the FBE Mentoring program to provide assistance and career guidance to Melbourne University students. I have also been actively involved in a number of non-profit associations promoting Australia-China connections and participated in the Australia-China Youth Dialogue in 2018.
