Honours Entry & Application

An outline of the entry criteria and how to apply.

Entry Requirements

The Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) is offered for full time, Semester 1 entry only.

Applicants should note that students must commence the honours year within two years of completing the requirements of their Bachelor of Commerce degree. Applications are open to all students who meet the entry requirements.

To undertake the Honours year in a particular discipline; Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Economics or Finance, you may need to complete specific third-year subjects. Please check the University's Handbook for subject requirements and eligibility criteria in each discipline.

The number of applicants selected will depend on the number of places available, noting that this varies from year to year, and selection is at the discretion of the relevant Head of Department. Entry is mainly based on academic performance and is very competitive.

Chancellor's Scholars who are admitted into the University of Melbourne's Bachelor of Commerce under a guaranteed entry pathway to a professional entry graduate course, such as the Juris Doctor, can undertake an Honours year and not jeopardise their guaranteed entry into their chosen graduate course.

The closing date for applications for the 2025 intake is Friday 15 November 2024.

Unfortunately, late applications cannot be considered. If you miss the application deadline and you meet the criteria for entry, you are encouraged to apply for the following intake.

Application

Bachelor of Commerce students from the University of Melbourne who meet the entry criteria are invited to apply online.

Applicants who have completed their Bachelor degree at institution other than the University of Melbourne, you need to:

  2. Lodge an original or certified copy of your academic record, together with the official university handbook or course information, as well as complete subject lecture outlines for all third-year subjects attempted.
