Congratulations to the alumni of the Faculty of Business and Economics acknowledged for their contribution through the Queen's Birthday 2016 Honours list.
The following alumni were among the outstanding Australian's added to the Queen's Birthday Honours List on 13 June 2016, recognising a diverse range of contributions and service.
Mr Vincent C Chow OAM (BCom 1981) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Chinese community of Melbourne.
Dr Neil W Davey AO (BCom Hons 1951) - made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to public administration, particularly through seminal contributions to the development of Australia's decimal currency, and to international banking, agriculture and bioscience organisations.
Mr Denis G Gastin OAM (BCom 1969) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the wine industry, particularly as a writer.
Mr Allan G Lorraine OAM (BCom 1953) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community, particularly to aged care.
Mr Tom Lowenstein OAM (BCom 1960) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the visual arts, and to the community.
Mr Peter J Martin OAM (BCom 1961) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to education and to the community.
Mr Michael J Nazzari OAM (BCom 1977, BA 1982) - awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through a range of organisations.
Mr Rodney H Nelson AM (BCom 1974) - made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to business through the advancement of skills development and training, improved productivity outcomes, and network building.
Mr Geoffrey G Ryan AM (BCom 1969, GradDipEd 1970) - made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to secondary education, particularly to the independent schools sector, and to professional organisations.
Dr Ian J Watt AC (BCom Hons) - made a Companion to the Order of Australia for eminent service to the community through public sector leadership and administration, to innovative and effective governance, program delivery and policy reform, and to the promotion of workplace diversity.
Professor Paul Kofman, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, was once again enthused to see so many University of Melbourne and FBE alumni on the Honours list.
"The Faculty takes great pride in the accomplishments of such outstanding alumni and our current students draw tremendous inspiration from their success," said Professor Kofman.
