Giving Back

Thanks to our donors and volunteers, the Faculty of Business and Economics continues to change the lives of our students as it has done for over 90 years.

Giving Back

There are many opportunities for our alumni to get involved and give back to the Faculty.

Volunteer your time and talent by becoming a Career Mentor, join a Welcome Program or learn how you can engage current students in your workplace through internships, consulting projects and business practicums.

Through scholarships for students who have experienced financial or social disadvantage, financial grants that enable students to take their learning globally, prizes rewarding academic merit and achievement, or cutting edge research and innovation; your belief in the transformative power of education creates educational opportunities that ensure our students graduate prepared for leadership, and to give back to the community.

Every gift to the Faculty counts towards Believe: The Campaign for the University of Melbourne. The Campaign is the most significant philanthropic undertaking in the University's 160-year history.

What can I give to?

Support talented students to access an education at the Faculty. The scholarships program at the Faculty of Business and Economics provides transformational opportunities to the best and brightest students despite financial hardship, geographic location, or other potential barriers that could inhibit access to a world class education.

Student experience

Support the student experience activities that are an integral part of the Faculty's educational mission. Industry work placements, consulting projects, leadership forums, global exchange opportunities, case study competitions, and entrepreneurial workshops are just some of the activities that enable our students to enhance their understanding of the curriculum and sharpen their graduate attributes, to allow them to become leaders in their chosen professions and the community.

Support our researchers in addressing important societal and business issues. The Faculty has a strong tradition of powering economic and social insights that help advance policy and business practice. The Faculty is home to research centres spanning the disciplines of economics, finance, accounting, management and marketing.

Entrepreneurship and innovation

Support major initiatives that will create the new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs Australia needs by bringing world class entrepreneurial education to Melbourne. The Faculty plays an important role in developing a greater entrepreneurial culture across the University of Melbourne, with key roles in an entrepreneurial ecosystem that includes Carlton Connect, the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), and the Master of Entrepreneurship.

Make a gift now

How can I make a gift?

There are multiple ways to support the Faculty. You can make a gift today that has an immediate effect, or you can establish an endowment to create a lasting impact. You may wish to create a bequest. The University has important information for donors based in the UK, US, or Canada.

Making a significant gift

You may wish to make a larger gift which will help to immediately transform an area of the Faculty that resonates with you. You can specify that your donation is used for an endowment, an ongoing purpose or perhaps as a one-off priority that has particular meaning for you.

To discuss your thoughts in greater detail, contact Emily May, Development Officer, on or +61 3 9035 6649.

Making a bequest

A bequest to the Faculty in your will is a special opportunity to benefit the lives of students and the Faculty. We have established the Heritage Society as our way of acknowledging supporters who have pledged to remember the University of Melbourne in their will.

If you would like more information on making a bequest please contact Emily May, Development Officer, on or +61 3 9035 6649.

Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics

The Foundation aims to give bright minds a brilliant future by building scholarship and bursary endowment for disadvantaged students studying business and economics. As a result of the Foundation's work, the smartest and most talented students will get the best education regardless of their circumstances. We are grateful to donors and sponsors for their generosity and vision.

Reporting and stewardship

We value the connections and lasting impact created by our donor community. The Faculty recognises donors through the naming of buildings and other spaces, academic positions, and scholarships. We report on the impact of gifts each year, and donors receive invitations to events and activities at the Faculty and in the wider University community.

Donors to the Faculty are listed in our donor roll.

If you would like more information on reporting and stewardship please contact Emily May, Development Officer, on or +61 3 9035 6649.

Recognition societies

A number of special groups, such as the Chancellor's Circle and the Wilson Society, have been created to recognise particular groups of donors.
